Copper vs Silver vs PMC

Copper

All of my work so far has been with enamel on copper, which is my favorite metal for enameling.  Copper is so feisty!  Copper Enamel vs PMC, Picture 1 I love the way that the dichroic effect plays against the variances in the copper metal.  DicroSlide™ shows up vibrantly on top of black enamel, but hardly at all on top of white or even light transparent enamels.

Silver

I have only fired two enamel on silver pieces in my life, and both of them were.....how shall I say.....lame!  I used transparent enamels with no flux, and the dichroic effect was very faint.  Maybe silver is so bright that it doesn't reflect the dichroic effect very strongly, whereas copper is darker, so it seems to cause the dichroic coating to reflect better and therefore look more vibrant.  Of course, my results on silver could be a result of my dataset of only two enamels, my lack of flux, or my general inexperience as an enamelist.  Maybe some of you more experienced enamelists can do better?

PMC

I have not yet worked with PMC, but according to the DicroSlide manufacturer, Georgia Speelman, "DicroSlide does not fuse directly onto PMC or Metal Art Clay.  However, it may work if the DicroSlide is covered with clear enamel."  Maybe if you enameled on the PMC, then applied the DicroSlide to the enameled part with a clear enamel layer on top???  Someone should try this!
